This week the Sports Universe descends on the Bay Area for Super Bowl 50. My podcast, "Sports with Friends" is going to be talking about the game with a lot of guests from SF. I'll be posting them a few times this week here on Sportsblog.
First, former Super Bowl Champion, Brian Kinchen, who played for both the Patriots and the Carolina Panthers is a guest on Sports with Friends.. Kinchen is a retired 14-year NFL tight end and long snapper who played for Miami, Cleveland, Baltimore, Carolina, and New England. As a tight end, he caught 160 passes for 1,648 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2003, Brian joined the Patriots late in the season and snapped the game winning field goal in Super Bowl XXXVIII.
Additionally, a documentary about his life/career is currently in production with a feature film in development titled “Before The Kick.” It details his return to football after becoming a middle school teacher.
His career has many twists and turns & he also has strong opinions on Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Cam Newton, the Panthers. It's a unique preview for Super Bowl 50.
I kicked off the week with my friend Russell Baxter from Bleacher Report, among other outlets. We discussed the Broncos vs. Panthers. Topics include Peyton Manning's legacy, and controversy that seems to be with Cam Newton.
And before the Championship games, I spoke with Gary Myers of the New York Daily News. Myers wrote the book "Brady vs Manning: The Untold Story of the Rivalry That Transformed the NFL." He has covered the NFL for more than three decades. He is currently a football columnist for the New York Daily News. He is also a fellow Syracuse alum, and a friend.
A few months ago we did a segment together promoting the book for MSNBC.
More to come, so make sure you follow me on Twitter. Go Broncos!
